Who We Are

Stafford Crane Group is a worldwide provider of lifting services
and equipment headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.

Our Story

The origins of Stafford Crane Group can be traced back to 1996, when Derek Stafford founded Stafford Tower Cranes in Dublin, Ireland, starting with a single tower crane.

Eight years later, Derek’s brother Patrick recognized the opportunity to bring the business to America. In 2004, with the support of Derek, Patrick founded Stafford Tower Crane of America in Phoenix, Arizona.

Since then, Stafford Crane Group has grown to provide more than just tower cranes. We now also rent and sell mobile cranes, self-erecting cranes, overhead cranes and construction hoists.

SCG in 2021 decide to acquire Soima, a crane manufacturer based in Portugal that have a huge tower crane manufacturing experience since from 1977.

Now operating our crane business for almost 30 years, Stafford Crane Group has built a reputation as the best provider of lifting equipment and services in Arizona. Based on this reputation, Stafford Crane Group has expanded into new markets and now operates in more than 10 states, with depots in Phoenix, San Diego, Denver, Oklahoma City and Houston.

The extent of SCG’s operations does not stop at the United States border: Through Stafford Gruas Torre de Mexico S.A de C.V., Stafford Crane Group offers crane and hoist rentals in Mexico, and through affiliate Lift Cargas, Stafford Crane Group offers crane and hoist services in South America.
Stafford Crane Group remains a family-owned and operated business.

Derek, through his company Tower Crane Technical Solutions, LLC, is based in San Diego, and Patrick is based in the Phoenix headquarters, along with Patrick’s son Patrick Stafford III who represents the next Stafford generation.

Now our business includes port equipment with Ship to Shore cranes for container loading/unloading, Rubber Tyre Gantry cranes for container storage and soon Rail Mounted Gantry cranes will be available, thanks to hard work made by our Milano Total Crane Design Hub, which has decades-long experience with engineers coming from the historical Fantuzzi-Reggiane and engineers that have designed many different types of crane, standard and special one, all coordinated by our MTC Design Hub Director Lorenzo Nizzolini, that had experience also in the energy sector, designing a six arm tower cranes for energy storage solution, with a total lifting capacity of 240 t (265 US tons).

We continue to operate on the core values that allow us to count among our clients some of the biggest and best contractors in the world.
